Evaluating the epidemiological situation in Europe and consulting with the stakeholders of the tournament, the European Council of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) approved the format change for the Women’s Europa League (EuroLeague) 2020-21 season.
It has been decided to organize the tournament in a modified format, in certain centers (hubs), in order to protect the health of the officials and to guarantee their safety, at the same time to protect the conditions of fair competition and to organize the tournament operations properly.
FIBA Europe, Board of Directors Women developed many options, which were later consulted with clubs and their national federations, and the format was chosen from before approving all relevant changes to the EuroLeague 2020-21 season regulations. According to the format approved by the FIBA Europe Board of Directors:
Qualification will be played on 28 or 29 October 2020 at a single center, over a single match;
The regular season will be played in four groups of four in a new and shorter format ;
Each of the regular season groups will be played at two separate venues. Each club in the groups will play a total of 6 regular season matches, three matches in each center;

Teams that finished their groups in the first two places advance to the quarter-finals, while the teams that finished third will not be able to participate in the Women’s European Cup (EuroCup) due to schedule restrictions;
Quarter-finals, in a separate center, in two groups will be played over two matches and the winners will advance to Final Four;
Quarter-finals will be played from 14-20 March 2021.
